On Friday 16.10. at 19h in UK Parobrod (Kapetan Mišina 6a), organised by Scandinavian Corner, centre for promotion of Scandinavian culture and values, there will be a presentation held by the Norwegian writer and equal rights activist Marta Breen.
Marta Breen will hold a visual and entertaining lecture on feminism and gender roles in 2015, called "Born feminist". She will show off a number of examples of how the media portrays women and men, girls and boys and talk about the new wave in international feminism.
Marta will also shows examples of how you can provide resistance to the commercial pressure.
"We are aware of that when you mention the word 'feminism' in Serbia, people usually have negative associations. We wish to change this which is why invited Marta Breen who will provide a different approach on modern feminism and gender roles and present the topic in both a funny and educational way", says Lena Maričić, one of the enthusiasts behind Scandinavian Corner.
Marta Breen is a journalist and nonfiction writer. Her latest book is called "Born feminist.” (2014). She has also written books about women in pop music and about the health care system. Currently she is a regular columnist in a newspaper called Dagsavisen. Breen is head of the Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association. (NFF)
